A finish and a couple Christmas gifts

I wanted to share a finish I did this week. (This is my mom's other towel.. she now has a set.)

Stitching for me during the last two weeks has been almost nil....
Stress and other things going on has helped with that one.

Hubby got me PC Stitch Pro and said I have a little more money(30.00) that I can spend on myself.

I got two special gifts from my sister.

This kit that she just thought was too cute to leave behind. (so she says... I have 3 more years before I hit 40 but I already feel this way but don't say anything to her.)

She also gave me this craft bag.... wish the pics were better.

Here is what the top looks like it is so beautiful.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very very Happy New Year.

The Worldwide Candle Lighting

December 14, 2008 unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause.
As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, creating a virtual wave of light, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor the memories of children in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries.
Now believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe, the Worldwide Candle Lighting, creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as it moves from time zone to time zone.
Hundreds of formal candle lighting events are held and thousands of informal candle lightings are conducted in homes as families gather in quiet remembrance of children who have died, but will never be forgotten.
Light your candle and take a moment to remember a beloved child.

Jesus Wept Update

Hello everyone.
Yesterday, I got into a real stitching mood so I went and stitched up a storm on this piece. I wish I could get more days when I feel like that.
Here is your long awaited update on Jesus Wept.
Although, it still does not look like much it is slowly coming along.
There are alot of color changes in the Earth so when I need a break on the color changes then I do some of the solid black.
Hope you all have a wonderful stitchy day.
Remember Jesus is the Reason for the Season!!!!

Hi everyone

It has been about a week since my last post.
I have been dealing with alot of stress and I think that is attributing to the headaches and nausea I have been feeling this week.

Well last night I was dying to stitch but was not feeling totally better so I did not work on Jesus wept.
Instead, I went to my room and looked at my stash and my UFO's man there are alot of them.
I then picked up one UFO did about 5-10 stitches.
Put it down and picked up another one and repeated the action.
I did this for about 5 or 6 UFO's.
It was strange not to stay working on one project but it was nice to know that even though it was not alot.... that something was being done on these UFO's.

My hope for today is to either work on Jesus wept or repeat last nights activity.

Jesus Wept

Here is my first posting of my WIP....
This was all stitched on Saturday.

I hope to get to do more on it... although right now I am dealing with headaches in my eyes and nausea so I am not sure when I can get back to it.

This progress does not look like much but then again the piece is huge so it will look like very little. So please keep cheering me on with this one... I would love to see it done.

Also I apologize for the picture but I rebuilt my puter and my photo editing program has yet to be installed.

A new wip

I am starting a piece that means alot to me and I need your help to keep motivation. (it is HUGE... 360 stitches W x 244 stitches H solid cross stitches.)

I will be doing smaller christmas ornaments so I do not lose my motivation. (NO I AM NOT DOING ANOTHER PIECE ON BLACK.... need a break from black so unfortunately that means I have to stitch all that black. Now you know the reason for needing smaller pieces to do while doing this one.)

I had written to Erik Hollander for permission to create a pattern and stitch one of his beautiful paintings. (minus the words) I HAVE ERIK HOLLANDER'S PERMISSION!!!!

I am not permitted to share the pattern or sell the piece. (like I am going to want sell it! NOT!!!!!)
My hopes is to have this beautiful piece displayed in my home.
Send the pattern along with a picture of my finished piece to Erik Hollander.
Maybe if we are lucky he will want to put the pattern on the market.
****Please leave a message if you are interested in some day being able to stitch this piece.... I will pass on the messages when I forward the pattern and picture to Erik Hollander.

Well the enabling continues....

Well as you know from a prior post... I was complaining (not really) about Meari's enabling.

Well a co-worker has been down about not having any money for Christmas.
I told her if she wanted to I could teach her to do cross stitch and then she could make some gifts.

So Wednesday, we got off work early and she came over.
I had some 11 count aida, some crafting embroidery thread(mainly keep it for my daughter) and a couple of patterns.
I told her when she got comfortable with the 11 count and decided she wanted to try something smaller (square size) to let me know. lol

She stayed at my home until almost 8pm ... took her stash home and was so excited because she was almost done with a piece she is doing for her grandmother.

Enabling........

A finish

I decided to take a leap and got myself the Cropadile....

(MEARI YOU ARE SUCH AN ENABLER.... I am going to have to stop listening to you. LOL)
This tool is absolutely wonderful.

So with saying that.... I stitched something small so I could see what the cropadile can do and how easy it is to use. (I ruined 5 rings before realizing that I should find out what I am doing wrong by reading the instructions. LOL)
So here is my first try... the material in the background is the material used for the back of the fob piece.

A good reminder

Thanks Meari... I really needed this reminder and thought there might be someone else that needs this too so I am posting it here.

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.
We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!
The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.
And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that?
This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.
They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.
The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

Hope

I got a new finish.... I won this from StitchPink.

I am doing it for a special person and will be doing another one for me as this was a fast stitch.
I can not wait to make it into a pinkeep.
I have never made a pinkeep before so this will be a new experience.

Not sure if you know of anyone that may need a card or may want to send cards this year.

Please feel free to sign up on either list.

Wizard is almost finished

I am really getting excited as I am almost finished with the wizard.
Even with all the frogging I have had to do on this piece it is still looking wonderful.
I told hubby he better start figuring out how he is going to finish it. LOL
He even seems a little excited to hear it is almost finished.

The first pic is what it should look like. The second pic is what it looks like right now.

Mr. Frog decided to visit....

I think this time he really wanted to make stitching the wizard difficult.
I have not stitched on this for over a week because of him.

I am the type of person that if there is a mistake I have to take it out.... although, I am recovering from this illness... LOL
Although, this visit from Mr. Frog is showing me that having the must correct all mistakes illness is not necessarily a bad thing.
You see I noticed that I had a mistake and tried to just go around it since it did not look like it would effect the piece.
Boy was I ever wrong. I should have taken and fixed the mistake.

Well it is looking like I can only fix a little part of it and hopes that it will look ok....
I think the original mistake that was made so early on in the piece that if I decided to fix it.....
I might as well start over. THAT IS NOT HAPPENING!!!!

I either correct the small area I am doing now and hope it looks good or I totally give up and throw it away.
Well I think I will do the first part as the latter is not an option.
Hubby would be very upset with me if I did that.

So bear with me as I fight the non-modivation feelings due to Mr. Frog and all his games.
I will try my hardest to get past this and keep going forward.

Another great message

I got this message in email yesterday as I was going over a huge bill list... trying to figure out how we are going to keep from drowning to the point we will lose it all... in the back of my mind hoping that God can allow me to be one of the lucky ones that will win the lottery. (at least enough to catch up the house payment and not be in fear of losing our home)

This was very well received though and felt the need to share in hopes it would help others.

Are you a kept woman, and praise God for it????

I Am a 'Kept' Woman?

You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind,
But GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)

There were times when I thought I could go no longer,
But the LORD kept me moving. (Gen 28:15)

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,
But the LORD kept my mouth shut. (Psa. 13)

Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,
But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be 'kept.'

Are you...or do you know a 'kept' woman ?
If so pass it on to her to let them know they are 'too'!

I'm Kept by the Love and Grace of God!

ATTENTION!!!

Calling all my stitching friends.
Due to extenuating circumstances I am having to reduce my stash load to pay a debt.
I am currently in the process of being sued and need to raise 1400.00.
I know I do not have that much stash but I am trying to raise as much as possible.
I have no one that can help me with this nor do I want to ask for hand outs.
With my house near foreclosure and close to losing my job..... this is the last thing I needed right now.

So stand by as I prepare my list......
Thank you.

Well I decided to take the plunge...

I created a blog of Wishes.... Link is on the left below my photo.

I hope to be able to try some new things as well as stitch some beautiful pieces.

Do not know when I will get them or if I will be able to finish all of them.

Luckily for me one of my children has an interest in stitching so if I do not do them in my lifetime... maybe she will be able to do them in hers.

What a great ending to a hectic day

I get home from a rough day at work and find a slip on my door saying we have a flower delivery for you but you were not home. OH WOW .... who could have sent me flowers.... so I called and asked them to redeliver.

Now I wait to see what is delivered and find out who sent me such a wonderful surprise.

I just got the delivery of some beautiful flowers.

The person that sent them was one of the ladies that had purchased one of my no-sew fleece blankets. What a wonderful way to thank me.

Then I check my email and find that Tracy is wanting to give me a chart as a RAK! Wow what a wonderful idea.... But I think the biggest and best thing about this RAK is........... I not only received the wonderful chart below .... I also got to meet her in person..... Come to find out I found out that someone in blog land lives less then a mile away.

YIPPEEE!!!! I got a stitch buddy.... Yes, Tracy I would be happy to help you do some finishing as long as you help me keep a little more motivated. LOL

I needed this one

I got this in email today and after all I have been going through in life....
This is one message that I really needed to hear. I hope you feel the same ....

The Fern And The Bamboo
Posted by: "Rest Ministries"

"'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"Hebrews 13:5 NIV

One day I decided to quit...
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality....
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
'God', I said. 'Can you give me one good reason not to quit?'
His answer surprised me.
'Look around', He said. 'Do you see the fern and the bamboo?''
Yes', I replied.
'When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
'In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
The same in year four.
'Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant.
But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots.
Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.
'Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots?
I would not quit on the bamboo.. I will never quit on you.
'Don't compare yourself to others.' He said.
'The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.
'Your time will come', God said to me. 'You will rise high'
'How high should I rise?' I asked.
'How high will the bamboo rise? He asked in return.
'As high as it can?' I questioned.
'Yes.' He said, 'Give me glory by rising as high as you can.'
I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me.
And He will never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness;
bad days give you experiences;
both are essential to life.

Update on Me

Well for those of you that do not know....

In June, I broke my ankle and spent a very hot Arizona summer with a cast on.
FOR TWO MONTHS!

My kids were not too happy with me as this made going swimming almost non-existant since I could not take them.

I then got my cast off on August 11th... first day of school and work for me.

I worked all day for that first week only to find out on August 15th that I was dealing again with kidney stones.

I need an illness vacation......

Those that do not know my health history - in 1997, I had 3 kidney stones that I passed the size of popcorn kernals. Then in 2006 I had gallstones and had to have part of my liver removed with the gallbladder due to the fact that my liver grew around my gallbladder. Then last year(10 years later after the first set), I had 3 more kidney stones the largest one was 1/2 an inch and they refused to allow me to pass it and demanded I get a lithotripsy.

So here I am dealing with kidney stones.... I passed it on Tuesday.
Here is a pic for those that are interested.

Well, I went to the dr today and he said that the CAT scan shows that there are 2 more stones but they are small and he does not see them moving anytime soon.... So I guess you can say I do stones in 3's.

Unfortunately, with going back to work and trying to get used to no longer being in a cast and getting used to a foot brace. (4 weeks)
Then dealing with kidney stones on top of that ..... House work, stitching nor anything else has gotten done.... I have come home from work and took cat naps and this week I have been sleeping on and off for a week.

Well work starts again for me on Monday..... Hopefully I will not have any ailments or anything else happen for a while.

Update on Sean

I have had a few people ask for an update so after contacting his mom and getting information with permission also to post.
Mom says he's doing great.

July 30th - pre-op testing

July 31st - surgery, 7:15AM goes a tad wrong so the anesthesiologist injects special brain protecting drugs during the crises and after the surgery he's put on ice for 24 hours to protect his brain.

August 2nd they start warming him up and his temperature goes through the roof while his blood pressure falls into the basement.

August 3rd the night nurse defies the cardiologist and takes the arctic sun stuff off of him (this is what was keeping him cold, they kept it on in case they needed to chill him again). Up until this point, we thought we were going to lose him.

August 4th the nurse decided it was time to take him of the ventilator, she turned it down so he was breathing on his own and by that afternoon removed it.

August 5th PT gets him up in a chair for the first time. He's only up 5 minutes and it exhausts him, but he was up.

August 6th he sits up in the bed for the first time.

August 8th he is moved from PICU to the intermediate ward. Still hooked up to IVs and monitors. Over the next few days he is removed from all of his IVs and monitors except the heart monitor. His main problem is swallowing. They have forbidden thin liquids because they choke him so he's on thick liquids and pureed food for the next 2 days. Pureed food makes him gag so we get him a lot of smoothies because he won't eat the food they are giving him.

August 11th he passes his thin liquid swallowing test and the let us go home. We call dad at noon and he borrows the company car to come drive us home. We stop at Sonic and he drinks a smoothie and eats a bite or two of a soft burger and some soft fries. We knew that out from under the watch of the swallowing therapist he'd relax enough to eat.

August 12th we walk 3 times a day for 5 minutes. We drink lots of juice and I make my first smoothie. He eats a PBJ.

A good reminder

My mom sent me this and I thought I would share.....

LEMONS and SUGAR

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
9. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
10. Always remember the compliments you received.

Forget about the rude remarks.

When life hands you Lemons, ask for Sugar and call me over!
Good friends are like stars, You don't always see them, But you know they are always there.
'Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another,
Even Though Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway'
I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while
I'm here than a whole truckload when I'm gone.

Don't you know the phrase 'stop and smell the flowers'?
Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Life keeps You Humble
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going

DADDY'S EMPTY CHAIR

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father.
When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows.
An empty chair sat beside his bed.
The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.
'I guess you were expecting me, he said. 'No, who are you?' said the father.
The minister told him his name and then remarked, 'I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up.'
'Oh yeah, the chair,' said the bedridden man.
'Would you mind closing the door?'
Puzzled, the minister shut the door.
'I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,' said the man.
'But all of my life I have never known how to pray.
At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head.' I abandoned any attempt at prayer,' the old man continued, ' until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me, 'Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus.
Here is what I suggest.
'Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair.
It's not spooky because he promised, 'I will be with you always'. '
Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now.'
'So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day.
I'm careful though.
If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.'
The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey.
Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church.
Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. Did he die in peace?' he asked.
Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek.
When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him .
But there was something strange about his death.
Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed.
What do you make of that?'
The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, 'I wish we could all go like that.'

Stash.....

All of you mothers out there know how we(mom’s) seem to take care of everyone and always seem to neglect ourselves. I was recently given 200.00 that I was not allowed to spend on bills or anyone else… it had to be spent on me.

Well I bought myself some over do things…. Socks, underwear and bras….
But I could not help but also buy some Stash… I do not get that opportunity very often and there is so much out there that I could not chose what I wanted so …..
I decided to try out some grab bags/surprise boxes from some companies…
Experience with ordering stash online.

Stitching bobs and bits - paypal payment - took forever to get my package but was satisfied with what I received in my 25.00 grab bag (prior experience)
- credit card payment - extremely fast receipt of package and am very satisfied With my 2 - 15.00 grab bags… this is what I got this time. (see pic below)

Herrschners - bought 2 surprise boxes one regular and one large and received it in acceptable time with wonderful items. (see the below 4 pics)

I STARTED THIS ONE! (WIP PIC LATER)
<---------

The Crafter's Mall - my only complaint is that they did not update their site as to when the package was mailed... I had to email them to find out when it had been mailed. grab bags were ok. I ordered 2 of their 9.99 grab bags. (see2 pics below)

The stitchery - my only complaint with them is that it took 10 days for my credit card payment to clear and also got no idea when my package was mailed until I emailed them....

although when they emailed me back they said it was mailed on the 25th of July and it actually got delivered on the 26th of July... (that was fast)
Their 29.99 grab bags was pretty good.
Oh and today the 28th I got the email, I guess they send to everyone saying your order was shipped today.LOL

I also received from another private source…

In Memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is with a deep breath that I inform those that have been praying for Steven Manos of some news....

Steven Manos (August 19, 1981 - July 24, 2008) died last night in his sleep.

For those that do not know, Steve was a dear friend/co-worker's son. For those that would like to read of his inspirational fight with throat cancer see the link on the right of this blog.

Jean,
I do not know if you will read this but I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you have been since you told me of his illness. I love you my dear friend.

Prayer request for heart surgeries

This morning a dear friend asked for a prayer request and I am passing this on so that more can pray for them.

Please say a prayer for two very special children who in the next couple of weeks (Sean is a young adult) will be having life saving heart surgery.

Emma - http://www.cornishadoptionjourney.blogspot.com/

Sean - http://www.seanmasters13.com/Site/Welcome.html

Please hold them up in prayer as both of their lives depend on the success of their surgeries.

Matthew 18:19-20 (King James Version)

19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
This is the word of the Lord.
Amen and Praise God!

Another Award... WOW

I received this award from Barb (mystitchingtreasures). Thanks Barb!
This means the world to me to know that people enjoy my blog.
Here are the rules when you select your people for the award:
1) Put the logo on your blog;
2) Add a link to the person who awarded you
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4) Add links to those blogs on yours
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

I do need to pick 7 other people for this people this was very, very difficult for me to do.
As I love all the blogs I read regularly....
The people I have chosen for this award are really extra ordinary people....

Please do not get upset with me but I have 2 non-stitching blogs that deserve alot of praise... they are an inspiration to me.

They have shown me that love, faith, hope and peace can be achieved no matter what life throws at you.

I will include them but do not necessarily expect them to pass this award on as they have so much going on in their lives right now.

Kreativ Blogger Award!

I was chosen for this award by Janice.
Thank you Janice!
It really means alot to me to know that others enjoy my blog and I am very honored to received this award.
I had seen it on other blogs and now I am the honored recipient of the Kreativ Blogger Award!
I hope and pray that everyone will find a little part of my blog that will bring smiles and or inspiration in one way or another.
Thank you again Janice!
Also, thanks to everyone who reads my blog and thank you for your comments!

Now I am suppose to choose 5 blogs and pass this award on.
This is difficult because I really like all my stitching blogger friends.
These are five of my friends who inspire me every day and I really enjoy reading their blogs.
(I tried to make sure my choices haven't received this award already. Call it sharing the love. lol)
1. Bette
2. Sonda
3. Tracy
4. Barb
5. KaLu

Very Depressed today

I went to the dr today with high hopes of getting rid of this cast.
I was given the opportunity to put on a removable leg brace to give me a little more freedom... like taking a shower or a bath unrestrained.
Well, I called the orthopedic supply place to find out about the brace and my insurance would not pay for it. They expected me to fork over 125-600 dollars out of my own pocket for it.
I was devastated because that meant I had to go back into a cast again.
Then the dr also requested me back in 2-3 weeks to relook at it and finalize my care.
Well, come to find out the dr will not be back in the office for 4 weeks.
So I am stuck in this cast that is more uncomfortable then the last one for another month.
Which means, that the day my 4 kids go back to school and that is supposed to be my first day back at the elementary school (should I go back) is the very day I get my cast off.
So my entire summer break will in this dumb cast....... WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I know it is a small one but at least it is a finish.

I think I will make it into an ornament.

A new beginning

I decided a new look was needed to go with my challenges and goals for the near future.

I especially love the new saying under the title of my blog.

May those that stitch have many more years of enjoying fibers, needle and fabrics.

May those of you going through rough and trying times.... Feel comfort, peace, love, faith and hope in knowing that God is there with you helping you along.

A friend reminded me some beautiful sayings and I am sharing them with you.....

When God closes a door, He opens a window.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

One of my BIG favorites is.....

If we should meet and you forget me, you have lost nothing.
But if you meet Jesus and forget him, you have lost everything.

UFO's (bowing head in shame)

Upon reading cross stitch blog after blog... trying to be inspired to stitch.
Well some of the wonderful ladies blogs, I read that they were trying to get some of their UFO's finally finished so they can not feel guilty to start something new.

Upon going through my stash to write down and take pictures of my own UFO's to try to get myself to take responsiblitly for not finishing them.
