I was a finishing fool!!!

I have been having difficulty getting motivation to finish some items.
Yesterday, I found that motivation and was up until 10:30PM finishing.
I just did not want to go to bed without having them finished.

I finished an apron for my sister. (was supposed to be finished for Thanksgiving but ran out of thread)

I made 4 bandana's for my youngest daughter for Christmas. (can you believe it the 13 year old only wanted bandana's)

I also finished my sister's frogs that I cross stitched into the tote bag she wanted. (click on the link to see the frogs up close.) Here is the tote bag.

A finish that is partly mine.... (updated to a full finish)

I inherited a few pieces through freecycle some were started, some were unstarted and some were so close to being finished.

This is one of those close to being finished pieces....

Not sure what I am going to do with it.... give it away or finish it into something and give it back to the person that started it.... hmmmmm decisions decisions....

Anyway, here it is and I dedicated it to my readers as I become better friends with each of you!

UPDATE!!!!!!
Here is the piece fully finished. I have decided to send it back to the wonderful and kind heart who started this and blessed me with stitching supplies.

The material in the background is the material that I chose for the other side.
I only hope she loves it as much as I do.

Interesting and inspiring

A quick note.... Please do not think I am preaching... I found this interesting and wanted to share.

THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS
At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty.
At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet.

The nails were driven into His wrist. Not into His palms as is commonly portrayed. There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breath.

Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breath. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours. Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from his wounds. From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side.

But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear.

But before the nails and the spear Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His wounds. The human adult body contains about 3.5 litres (just less than a gallon) of blood.

Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood; He had three nails hammered into his members; a crown of thorns on his head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into his chest.

All these without mentioning the humiliation He passed after carrying his own cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross was almost 30 kg of weight, only for its higher part, where his hands were nailed)

Jesus had to endure this experience, so that you can have free access to God. So that your sins could be "washed" away. All of them, with no exception! Don't ignore this situation. JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU! For you, who now read this e-mail. Do not believe that He only died for others (those who go to church or for pastors, bishops, etc).

He died for you! It is easy to pass jokes or foolish photos by e-mail, but when it comes to God, sometimes you feel ashamed to forward to others because you are worried of what they may think about you.

Accept the reality, the truth that JESUS IS THE ONLY SALVATION FOR THE WORLD.

God has plans for you, show all your friends what He experienced to save you. Now think about this! May God bless your life!

60 seconds with God...

All you have to do is:

Simply pray for the person who posted this message: Lord, you know the life of _________. I ask You to bless him/her in all things and make him/her prosperous. Take care of his/her family, his/her health, his/her work and all his/her future plans. Lead him/her not into temptation, but deliver him/her from evil. In Jesus' name, amen.

Take a moment to appreciate the power of God in your life, for doing what pleases Him.

If you are not ashamed to do this, please, follow Jesus' instructions. He said (Matthew 10:32 & 33): "Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; but whosoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven".

Yes, I love God. He is my source of life and my Savior. He keeps me alive day and night.

Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me". Philippians 4:13.

This is the simple proof. If you love God and you believe and trust in salvation through Christ Jesus, send this to all those you love.

I love you all!!!

HAPPY SWEET 16! I LOVE YOU BABY!!!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

I wanted to share with you... a very special gift.

This gift I thought would be a great gift for my daughter on her 16th birthday.

I told her that her gift was a surprise and she had to go to school and find it. She was floored that I left her gift at school and was scared someone would take it. I had to reassure her no one would take it from her.

After it was arranged I was scared that she would hate it and be mad.

To my pleasant surprise she LOVED it!

When she called me to tell me she found it and loved it....

I just had to tell her that should her name never be in lights when she becomes an adult.... remember it has already been in lights and was placed there with love.

A Hardanger Happy Dance.....

I finally finished my hardanger Christmas tree.

My oldest daughter told me I was not allowed to make it all red because Christmas trees are green.

I did realize while I was doing the stars that I put in 2 kloster blocks that were not supposed to be there. So I did take them out so I could put the correct stitch in.

I think it turned out great.... although, did not really get the hang of the doves eyes until I was 5 rows from the bottom.

I did refuse to take the wrong ones out just because this was a learning piece and others need to see that everyone makes mistakes.

Baby Beanies Webpage

Introducing the opening of Baby Beanies!

Please take a few minutes to take a look and let me know what you think.

Please pass this web page along to anyone you think might be interested.

Thank you in advance to everyone that takes a look and passes this information on to others!

Got a tiny finish..

Well Monday, I had to go through jury selection. Yippee!
I dreaded going only because I did not want to be bored off my rocker. I did a happy dance when they not only did not take my small scissors but they also let me keep my needle. So I was able to start and finish this little piece. This is finish #15 for 2009.

Now I have to wait to see if I have to go back for jury duty as I await them reviewing a questionnaire packet that I was required to fill out. It makes it difficult to find a job when I cannot give a definite day to start. I hope I hear soon whether or not I have to go back. I also hope and pray I can find work soon. Even though, I enjoy having quiet time without anyone home, actually get the house clean and makes it easier to look online for work.

I am getting so bored no having work.
Come on people, I love filing!!!
Just try me out for a week or a month!

A gutsy stitcher

I call myself gutsy for the following reason.....

I was dying to try some more hardanger.... so I went through my magazines to see if I could find any more hardanger patterns.

This one contains stitches I had never done before ... like woven bars and doves eyes.

Then I looked at the threads I had but noticed nothing talked to me.... so I remembered I had some crochet thread....

Yep, you guessed it.... I did hardanger with crochet thread.... I cannot help it... I wanted to see if it was possible.

Well what do you think????

Finish!!!

This is a Lizzie Kate finish.... This is #14 for 2009... may there be many more.

I thought this was cute and since I got it in a grab bag I just had to stitch it.

Just need to figure out how I want to finish it off.... been in a finishing mood just been too busy to do any since I am still trying desperately to find a job.

Saturday, August 08, 2009

Yahoo!!!!!!! Hardanger is finished!!!!!!!

I finished my hardanger piece.... I am so very happy!!!

Hardanger practice heart finished

I was able to finish my hardanger practice heart.

Now it is time to finish my main project that I was learning on.

What do you think???

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Holy moly......

Another installment of Hardanger updates!!!

Rene from ILCS is teaching us how to do hardanger if you did not know that already.

She had us do a practice heart so that we could do the cutting on a piece that did not matter before doing the cutting on the piece that we have been working on for weeks.

Anyway, I did great on the practice heart. (no mistakes or boo boo's)

So I decided to continue on to lesson 4 - the cutting.
Anxious and very confident.... I proceeded to snip snip snip..... (reminder to self..... don't be too anxious or extremely confident)

Unfortunately, not only did I accidentally cut a fabric thread that should not have been cut but I also cut a stitched thread.

So I told myself to just relax and I mended the material thread that should not have been cut and I replace the one stitch of thread that was cut......

I think I did awesome because I cannot see nor do I remember where the boo boo's are.....
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

May this bless you as much as it did me listening to him speak!

Well the frogs have moved in....

These little cuties were stitched for my sister.
They were finish number 13 for 2009.
I will have to figure out how to finish them but the stitching part is done.
Yes, they had fun with me while I was trying to get them finished.....
They are so cute they make me giggle.
