Well....as I had 2 boys, I couldn't tell you what it would be like to have a daughter. My youngest son just turned 30 and back in the days before the 3D ultrasounds, I was told I was having a girl! Imagine my surprise when I had a Robbie instead of a Katie!

When I was 17, I had my first REAL boyfriend. We actually met when he was a Senior and I was a Sophmore..we dated for about a year and about 2 months before I graduated H.S. he moved to New York City and broke my heart !! I still love him :( . but that time between 17 & 18 was a wonderful time...

What a nice tribute to your daughter. I did not have girls...but do have 2 sons. Whne my youngest turned 17, I was sad..to me it marked a time that would mean he would be going more his own way, spending less time with me. To my wonderful surprise, we became very close as he became a young man of his own. He is now 37 and alothough we live far apart, we are close. I have been very lucky to have him and my daughter-in-law in my life. If I should by some off chance win, #2 would be nice....I am also a follower.

You have a very beautiful daughter :) Turning 17. Oh my! My only daughter is only 8 months old so I have a way to go.

My favorite memory of when I was 17....I was doing my co-op in a retirement home. While I was there I made many elderly friends, but there was one lady that really drew me in. She would tell me stories upon stories about growing up in the "good ole days" and how hard it was coming from a family of 11 and having nothing. She said all she ever dreamed of was going to a high school dance. So us volunteers decorated the common room like a high school dance the best we could like it would of been in the "good ole days" we pooled together and bought her a nice dress and even had one of the older gentlemen from the home ask her to be his "date" to the dance. He gave her a corsage and everything. It turned out to be a wonderful night. At the end of the night she told me thank you, she would remember it forever. When I went in the day, they told me she had passed away in her sleep. I was sad, but happy to know that she got something she had always dreamed of! I still stop by the retirement home now and again and do various activities with the seniors, there is still one living there from when I did my co-op 16 years ago :)

I am a follower of your blog and I'm on my way to post it on my blog as well as add it to my sidebar!!

Happy birthday to your daughter!

I'd love to be entered for all three giveaways please. I'm a follower.

I'd have to be insanely precocious to have a 17 year old! But when I turned 17, I celebrated by checking out 50 books from the public library (the maximum allowed) and spent the weekend reading.

Happy Birthday to the young lady! I would love to be entered in any of the giveaways, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose #2. I'm a follower. I have no special memories of that day (my own daughter is only 6), but I shared a photo with my cake on my blog.

Hello!!

When I was 17, as every other year, my Mom asked what kind of cake I wanted. This particular year I wanted the chocolate wafter/dream whip cake my Grandma used to make. Sooo my Mom sets to work on this cake but got totally carried away, bought too much stuff and ended up making a giant pyramid shaped cake that looked like an iceberg!

I'm a follower, and all three look great!

Happy Birthday to your daughter :-)

Memories, oh memories - at 17 I was allowed to go to a concert (local bands) and some of the boys were also at my school... We were the devoted admirers :)

When my daughter was 17 she was on the varsity soccer team. My favorite memory is when they unexpectedly asked her to be goalie. She had just had her nails done for the prom that evening and there she was, trying to stop the ball without breaking a nail. I still smile when I remember

I have become a follower but have read your blog when updates are posted on ILCS yahoo group. Any of the options for prizes are fine with me. I posted a blog about your giveaway and now my memory.
When I was 17 I got my first car. It was a birthday present from my parents. It was a silver Nova. I owned it for a little over a year.

Alyssa . . . I shall try to get everything into this one comment . . Hum, no daughters, lived quite a ways away from the neices when they turned 17 and it has been 42, almost 43 years since I turned 17.

So, let's see . . are there any memories from my 17th year? I am 100% sure that when I turned 17, in Janury, I would have been eagerly anticipating an quick end to my junior year so I could get through my senior year and get college started. Now, I wished everything had slowed down . . .but like all teenagers, i wanted to be an adult as fast as possible.

I shall post your give awayto my blog as soon as I sign out here and start following you too.

I would pick #1 of ur giveaway. When I was 17, I enjoyed working at Lake Louise, Alberta during the summer. It was lovely to watch the tourists come to the chateau, walk through the glaciers, walked up the mountains and up to the beehive cafe, and a variety of people coming from different countries. This was also my first experience of working at a resort. I still have many good memories. I think I am also a follower of ur blog.
