Some stitching finishes....

Well here is a piece I was working on before my ankle broke....

Still need to do the accompaniment piece then I will finish them into something.

Here is also a towel that I stitched for my mom and finished yesterday for her. I will be making her another one so she will have a set. I will be giving her the finished one now...I hope she will like it. Then when the next one is done she will get it also.

News from the Dr.

Well I went to the Dr. yesterday for my ankle and got some good news as well as some not so good news.

Well the good news is.... I got 2 more weeks in this cast... (making it a total of 4 weeks)
Although, he will be putting on something removable after the cast is off..... but hopefully whatever goes on next will be a little cooler for me in this horrible heat.... we are in the 110+ degrees....

Now I did ask if this break was near or in the same place as the one I had about 5 years ago.
The Dr. said there was no sign of the last break.
I proceeded to tell him that the last break was a clean break and it went across my ankle from the front of my foot to the back.
He then said this current break is then most likely a reoccurance because it is in the same area and also a clean break. The Dr also stated reoccurance of breaks are easier after the first..... WAAAHHHHH!!!!

Hubby then told me he expects in the future I will be walking with a cane....

6/10/2008 - PV Students Participate in Solar Car Races

In April, Palo Verde science teacher Luciano Valdes and the Science Club went on their annual trip to Tucson for solar car competitions and the celebration of Earth Day.


The challenge was to build a car that was aerodynamic and had minimal weight, without affecting the balance of the vehicle. The students built model solar cars that convert the sun's rays into electrical energy. The motor operation came from the electrical energy produced by two volts of generated electricity. It took a lot of perseverance and energy to get the cars done, but we got the cars done with time to test and perfect them. Nine teams from our school competed.

We were off to a rough start. Cars breaking and the sun hiding behind the clouds caused us some stress. With a few adjustments, we pulled through. We started having winners and second place finishers. Almost everyone made it to the fourth round. I, Aleishia, am proud to report that my group (Angela L., Armando G. and me) took third place. We also took first place in the design award. Above all everyone had a great time.

During the day we got a chance to celebrate Earth Day. There was a parade, music, dancers and many events, but the greatest enjoyment was the challenge of the race and returning home a winner.

Adiam Y., Science Club president, says it was a great experience and encourages all seventh graders to sign up for Science Club next year.

Vice President Brianne M. said, "It was a fun activity. We learned how the sun provides energy and electrical power. It was really cool that we participated in the solar car races in Tucson, Arizona. The day we went it was Earth Day; while we were there they had an earth day parade it was awesome."

Mr. Valdes would like to thank all the members that participated in this event. "Your hard work and dedication was the outcome of its great success. You are all winners," Mr. Valdes said.

A Dear Friend RAK'd me!!!!!

Today after my nap I went to the mailbox and found that a friend named Christine Wilson had RAK'd me. She sent me Butternut Road's Earth Dancer. I am so excited. So here is another new pattern put on my to do list. Thank you Christine. It made my day.

Well I did it again

I went to the store and I was beginning to walk my way back home.
I stepped off a curb and heard crack. (sounded just like a carrot being broke in half)
I yelled, "OH NO I DID IT AGAIN!!!! I BROKE MY ANKLE AGAIN!

There was a man in a car waiting for me to cross and he had stopped to help me.
He helped me to get off the hot asphalt and called 9-1-1 for me.
He was so kind and gentle and made sure I was ok.
He then helped me call my mother so that someone could get to my kids who would be coming home from summer school and she also called my husband.

There were also about 3-4 kind men from the Arizona auto wash that came and helped take care of me until emergency help could arrive. One of these men brought me water, another a bag full of ice, another just kept asking me if I needed anything... the last one saw a firetruck drive in and go park clear on the otherside of the parking lot. He went clear across the parking lot after that firetruck to let them know that they were needed where I was.

The firetruck and the paramedics arrived and they took over.... my 5 angels that took care of me soon disappeared. The paramedics had told my husband that I just sprained it but I stuck to my belief that I broke it. We got in the room after the xray and the nurse came in and said the films show that you have a fracture. I thought to myself.... DUH!!!!!!!!!!!

Well unfortunately, this now means that I would not be able to get a job for the summer to help pay for bills. Please keep us in your prayers that we can pay for all that is needed.

I will be able to get some stitching time in but the unfinished housework will drive me crazy. Pray that the kids will help cover the slack where mom is unable to perform.

Cross Stitch and Me!!!

I STARTED A CROSS-STITCH THE OTHER DAY.
IT'S NOT MY FIRST I'M AFRAID TO SAY.
I'VE STARTED AT LEAST A HUNDRED AND ONE AND ONLY A HANDFUL OF THESE ARE DONE.
MY PROBLEM IS SIMPLE, PLAIN AND EASY TO SEE.
I'M HOOKED ON CROSS-STITCH, IT'S NOT AS BAD AS COULD BE.
I DON'T DRINK OR GAMBLE, I JUST SIT AND STITCH THIS IS MY WEAKNESS, MY PASSION, MY ITCH.
EACH PROJECT I BUY IS EXCITING AND NEW I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED, SO THAT'S WHAT I DO.
I STITCH ON THE NEW PIECE, FORGETTING THE OLD THAT MAKES ONE MORE PIECE IM PUTTING ON HOLD.
IF I BOUGHT NO MORE PROJECTS EVER AGAIN.
I'LL STILL NEVER FINISH IF I LIVE TO BE ONE HUNDRED AND TEN.
SO I'LL KEEP RIGHT ON BUYING FOREVER MORE (I'M A PREFFERED CUSTOMER AT MY LOCAL CRAFTS STORE) AND WHEN MY TIME COMES, IN STITCHES HEAVEN.
I'LL BE WITH ENOUGH UNFINISHED PROJECTS TO LAST THROUGH ETERNITY.
I'LL SIT AND I'LL STITCH ALL THE DAY THROUGH AND I MAY FINISH A PROJECT, MAYBE EVEN TWO.
